I bought the most beautiful 6 colors of tulle and ribbon (Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple) for her rainbow themed / bubble guppies themed birthday party. Half the tulle is sparkly and half is crushed so it's really cute. I will come back after her birthday next month to post pics :)

For anyone wondering about measurements. My daughter is only going to be 2 so an 18" skirt would have been way too long for her. Here is what I did for her and her 2 friends.

- I bought 6 yards of tulle in 6 colors and cut each yard in half - so now I had 12 yards of 18" tulle. This makes a 9" skirt that goes around her knees.
- For each skirt, I cut 18 strips of ribbon at 16" (3 of each rainbow color).
- In total I used 54 strips of tulle on her skirt and 48 on the 2 other girls just so I could save some tulle for other projects. You can easily get away with less if you spread them out more. Her waist is around 18"
- I put the tulle on in rainbow order, throwing in a ribbon (also in rainbow order) every 3 strips.

Ok that is a lot of numbers but I thought it might help someone who is like me and deals in exact numbers :)vivasuzihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18145318420835950756noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37249097.post-72571106653246534042012-10-01T14:00:40.474-04:002012-10-01T14:00:40.474-04:00we made a dozen of these for a fairy party last mo...we made a dozen of these for a fairy party last month - they turned out beautifully! here is a link to the post of the skirts - thanks of for the great tip!

http://www.sttheophanacademy.com/2012/10/fairy-party-frocks.htmlAnnahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15559423891850170899noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37249097.post-53858840331471392132012-07-26T17:59:15.038-04:002012-07-26T17:59:15.038-04:00I have been looking for project to do with my 5 y...I have been looking for project to do with my 5 yr old granddaughter this weekend. I saw the idea at my daughter's gymnastics class, a little girl's mom had made 1 for her daughter & I just LOVED it! My mom & I recently went to the fabric store & WENT CRAZY on buying tulle, ribbon, elastics, flowers & stuff to make these skirts. I decided I was going to make my daughter an "Easter" one so that I didn't have to buy her an expensive Easter dress!!!!! I made mine, but I wasn't quite sure how to do it.... I used slip knots as you did, but I pulled mine really tight.... & I'm VERY glad that I was able to find out how other people do it! There is only one thing that we did differently..... I sewed snaps onto mine! Jusdt thought I'd share that with you! And THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!

~BriAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37249097.post-76116939930189896072009-12-23T19:32:23.472-05:002009-12-23T19:32:23.472-05:00I bought some tule and was looking for a pattern. ...I bought some tule and was looking for a pattern.
